Re: Supporting Hawkwind 2009 « Result #1 on Dec 17, 2009, 5:46am »
Hi, I am a long-time Hawkwind fan but was working abroad when Arthur last toured with Hawkwind, so this is actually the first time I have seen him live.
I am embarassed and Frustrated - so many wasted years. The man is a god. I am 5 nights into the tour and 2 to go and each night I get there early so that I can be right up the front for Arthur. Each night I am not dissappointed - actually I am there grinning like an idiot and moving in a manner not suited to a fat, balding old git.
Met him briefly after the Bristol gig and not only is he a god, but he is also a really nice guy.
Arthur, you have won me and I have just placed an order for half a dozen albums so I can remove that lack of knowledge.
I will definately be keeping an eye on tour dates and expect to become a regular.
Supporting Hawkwind 2009 « Result #2 on Dec 11, 2009, 9:44pm »
Hi
Just got back from Manchester. Hawkwind supported by The Crazy World of Arthur Brown. Sheer amazement on my part. I'm now 23, and have wanted to see Arthur live for about 5 years. It was a long wait. But my God was it worth it! For that shade under an hour I was enthralled. Arthur sang and moved like he was posessed, danced like he does in the footage recorded in the 60s, flinging himself all over the stage. He was very funny as well - an impromptu song about Gordon Brown got great laughs and loads of applause, and the interaction with the band, faces pulled, body language all added to the crazed humour. I simply do not know how he does it - he has so much more energy than me!! The setlist was something along the lines of, although I am struggling to remember the order:
Hard Rain All the Bells Kites I Put a Spell on You Voices of Love Prelude/Nightmare Fire Poem Fire Spontaneous Apple Creation
There may also have been another one which escapes me right now
All I can say is that I loved every minute, and just wish it was longer. I truly hope I will get the pleasure of seeing Arthur live again.
Season of the witch « Result #7 on Aug 12, 2009, 4:56pm »
Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew what album Arthur covered Season of the witch on? I used to have a tape a friend made from me with a version he did that was incredible.

Speaknotech is basically The Complete Tapes of Atoya, which I bought when it first came out. It's a sort of experiment in sound and words, more or less; it's interesting, but the 'rock' content is pretty minimal. Faster Than...is OK I suppose, but I think it was something of a lost opportunity. Tantric Lover is undoubtedly the one to get, there's some super stuff on there.
btw I recommend "No Man's Land" by Victor Peraino's Kingdom Come. This legendary album was (and still is...) one of the rarest and hardest-to-find of all vinyl LPs, but it's now available on CD, St Thomas Records can supply it. There's no Arthur on it, nor any other KC people apart from Victor. I think it's great.
btw Victor and Arthur may do something together again, watch this space...

Don't have Speaknotech yet, but of the other three, I'd order them Tantric Lover, Faster Than The Speed of Light, and Brown , Black and Blue. Not easy though because they're all so different!
I like the melody and more gentile Tantric Lover, although there are 2 tracks I dislike on there. Faster... is really good, but perhaps a little repetitive(ish) in places, and occasionally it sounds a tad silly I suppose is the way to describe it. BBandB comes last just because Arthur is more restrained on there. I respect that he did a straighter album to respect the blues guys, but somehow it lacks a bit of spark in places. Still, all 3 are very worthy purchases, but TL would be my choice
